Every ten years since 1634, a little town in Bavaria, Germany called Oberammergau has staged a play portraying our Lord's last hours. Having been spared the ravages of the plague, the citizens of Oberammergau vowed to God to reenact Jesus' passion in a play involving the whole town every ten years. Almost without exception, that vow has been kept to today. 2010 marks the next performance of this now world famous Passion Play. Brinkman Travel has already secured excellent seats for this seven hour production (with a meal break!). Please join me on this historic and perhaps once in a lifetime experience of reliving our Lord's sacrifice and death. Our trip to Oberammergau will be combined with a pilgrimage to the religious sites of France. First we will arrive in Lourdes to ask our Lady's intercession in our lives. Having bathed in the miraculous waters we will travel to Paris to visit the great basilicas of Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur and Sainte Chapelle among others. While in Paris we will pray at the tomb of St. Vincent de Paul and visit the site where our Lady is said to have revealed the Miraculous Medal. A day trip will take us to the great medieval cathedral of Chartres and to the Palace and Garden of Versailles. Then we will travel for two days to Lisieux to pray at the tomb of the Little Flower, St. Therese of the Child Jesus. Finally having prepared well by prayer, we will fly to Germany for three nights to see the Passion Play. Ten years ago, this pilgrimage hosted by Brinkman Travel sold out. Opportunities for unique experiences sometimes come only once in our lifetime. The experience of seeing and sharing in the Passion Play of Oberammergau may be one of those opportunities. The residents of this German town have been entering into the life and story of Jesus and his passion every ten years. Our opportunity to share in this memorable presentation comes again in the summer of 2010. I invite you to join with us as we travel down the picturesque Rhine River and share in the history and remarkable sights of Germany, visiting cathedrals, towns and historic places. We will conclude our cruise with the Passion Play experience in Oberammergau.

This play was first performed over 376 years ago, and the townsfolk enter into the life and times of Jesus and follow him from his entry into Jerusalem, to his sharing in the Last Supper and his crucifixion. Not only will we share in this unique event, we will be able to recall, with vivid clarity, the events that lead to our salvation through Jesus. We will be eye witnesses to these events through the play, and the Gospel story will become alive and present to us in a new and richer way.
